EcoRise is thrilled to share our 2024–25 Texas Impact Report, a snapshot of the inspiring progress our students and educators achieved this year. Thanks to our hardworking K–12 educators, dedicated community partners, and generous donors, thousands of young Texans have been empowered to design sustainable solutions for their schools and communities.
Across 653 schools, more than 61,000 students and 1,099 teachers took on real-world challenges—diverting over 44,000 pounds of waste, saving 43,000 gallons of water, and creating 60,000 square feet of green space. Their creativity shines through projects like vermicomposting in San Antonio, sustainable food initiatives in Wimberley, and new recycling programs in the Rio Grande Valley. These hands-on experiences not only improve local environments but also cultivate the leadership and collaboration skills students need to thrive in a changing world.
Our annual Student Innovation Showcases celebrated these achievements, with student teams presenting their projects to local leaders, including Austin Mayor Kirk Watson and San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg. From pollinator gardens to renewable energy efforts, these showcases highlighted how small, local actions can drive powerful environmental impact and inspire entire communities.
“The advocacy of [EcoRise youth] has driven meaningful progress—from advancing renewable energy initiatives to engaging new and diverse communities in climate resilience. I hope our work serves as a bright example to other cities that when we prioritize youth voices, we create a healthier future for all.”
Ron Nirenberg, San Antonio Mayor
