Overview

Students in the Beekeeper Club at Katy High School became concerned about the availability of food for their bees after the once-flowering property next door was striped for development. The group applied for an Eco-Audit Grant to increase the density of the native plants on their 5-acre apiary. Aside from improving the habitat and food supply available to their pollinators the apiary will also absorb excess floodwaters and improve air quality in the neighborhood.
