EcoRise is all about supporting teachers everywhere, and we’re always excited to learn from our teachers too! This fall, we launched our Global Sustainable Intelligence (SI) Pilot: a chance for schools outside the U.S. to try our SI lessons with their students and teach us a little something about their experience!

The Global Pilot is an opportunity for teachers at high-performing schools worldwide to use EcoRise’s flagship curriculum, Sustainable Intelligence, free of charge from September 2017–June 2018. In exchange, teachers provide regular implementation feedback and stories from their classrooms, so that EcoRise can improve its content and programs, specifically for an international audience.

For one year, teachers in the pilot get full access to SI, plus virtual support from us and access to EcoRise educator community resources. They’re providing us with photos and videos of their classrooms in action, and giving us cultural adaptation feedback on the SI lessons that they decide to teach.

In Coimbatore, India, the PSGR Krishnammal Nursery and Primary School is a girls’ school whose mission is to educate and empower students to be compassionate and inspired people, who act for the good of all and for the sustainable development of the community. Twenty-two teachers at PGSR are participating in the pilot! In October 2017, the girls did the Dig, Pump, Turn lesson from the Energy module, and deepened their understanding of energy resources by creating models of coal mines, solar lights, and windmills.

Currently, the schools in the pilot include:
• Colombia: Colegio Bilingüe Rochester
• India: PSGR Krishnammal Nursery and Primary School
• Uganda: SmartUp Factory Kampala
• South Africa: Sustainability Institute

Sustainable Intelligence is the world’s first comprehensive bilingual K-12 environmental literacy curriculum centered on inspiring the next generation of sustainability leaders. The SI curriculum cultivates student environmental literacy and encourages youth to become thoughtful stewards of the environment and leaders in their communities. SI lessons introduce students to challenges and opportunities surrounding seven distinct eco-themes and engage youth in developing real-world solutions in their communities through project-based activities, design labs, and campus eco-audits.

If you know of any teachers at schools outside the U.S. who’d be interested in joining this pilot program, please email us at support@ecorise.org.
